The item is fully functional, but running in pfSense mode the overall temperature is around constant 50 degr C or more. Also when under stress test on trying to get 1GB of throughput , CPU usage goes through the roof and the box is heating up even more. So it looks like all the heavy lifting done during basic pfSense out of the box (no additional settings or filtering), is mainly done by the CPU and not by any kind of network chip. Even the suggestion looks different by the name Intel, is lacks the horsepower to do more heavy lifting when more firewall rules or filtering are added. Nice experiment to do some entry low level exercise with pfSense, but there it stops. Build now a pfSense box out of a MSI ITX motherboard (€30) and an 4 core AMD, extended 4 port intel PCI card - 0HMJY (€27) to build a real powerful pfSense box.
